Donald Lee Trower, 78, of Trimble, MO, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Buschmann officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Liberty Hospital Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Don was born June 20, 1933 in Winchester, KS the son of Rollo V. and Grace (Ray) Trower. He served in the Army National Guard for 11 years and worked at the former Rockwell/Atchison Castings for 43 years retiring as a supervisor. Upon retirement Don operated his own photography business with his wife, Carol. He enjoyed woodworking, metal works and making leather products, such as gun holsters, wallets and purses. Don received many of his ideas for projects from drawings he created by doodling. He loved to sing. Don was a member of the Kordsmen Quartet and loved traveling the country singing Gospel music with his wife.
Don married Effie Belle “Carol” Sissel on September 29, 1951 in Atchison, KS at the First Christian Church. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
Survivors include sons, Allen (Hope) Trower, Topeka, KS; Steve (Linda) Trower, Trimble, MO; Randy (Gina) Trower, Blue Springs, MO; daughters, Debarah Arnett, Olathe, KS; Kathy (Rob) Hendricks, Hiawatha, KS; brothers, Michael Trower, Salina, KS; Earl Trower, Atchison, KS; sisters, Martha Boles, Woodridge, IL; Nellie Moore, St. Joseph, MO; Sharon Burton, Rio Rancho, NM; Linda Pennington, Atchison, KS; Freda Debey, Downs, KS; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
