State Assessments Start This Week

Friday night, April 15^th, a large crowd of students, parents and grandparents filled the gym at Atchison Elementary School for the annual School Carnival. The carnival featured all kinds of games and blow-up fun activities. The carnival “is more for fun than a fund raiser”, according to Tom Sack, Primary Grades Principal. “We have fund raisers in the fall.”

AES Carnival Friday

Please join us at the annual AES Carnival! May plans to attend Friday, April 15 from 5:30 to 8 PM at the AES gym. Tickets can be purchased before or after school at 4 for $1 on Wednesday and Thursday and 3 for $1 on Friday. There will be games and prizes for the whole family so come and join us for an evening of fun.

Technology in the Primary Grades

Students of today will face a future that will be far different than any of us could imagine. A big part of that future includes the ease of use of a variety of technology available. In the primary grades, AES students have an opportunity to use a variety of interactive devices such as Promethean Boards and iPads that differentiate the teachers' instruction and the students' learning.

The fourth quarter has quickly arrived and we are continuing our state assessment participation. Every year students are challenged by these assessments to perform at their very best levels and demonstrate how much they have learned throughout the year. The results of these assessments are used to determine what additional instruction your child may need to increase their individual potential.
