Joe and Judy Lienemann invited friends and family to a reception honor Mark's graduation from KU. The reception was held at the family residence in Atchison on Saturday, Dec. 18. Mark received his Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies and a Minor in Business Administration. Following the holidays, Mark is started a job for ATT in Kansas City.

One of music's most recognizable voices will fill Warnock Lake's natural amphitheater with sound this summer. Darius Rucker, who was a major pop star more than a decage ago, is now one of country music's hottest acts. The veteran singer/songwriter will headline LakeFest 2011 on July 15 at Athison's Warnock Lake.

Muchnic Gallery Opens New Exhibit

The Muchnic Gallery opened a new exhibit featuring works by members of the Riverwalk Art Association. Patrons can view the works at the Gallery (704 N. 4th) from 10 am to 5 pm on Wednesdays and from 1 to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

BC Project Decorates Project Concern

Wall PaintingWall PaintingProject Concern building has a new look. It is hard to miss as you drive by 6th and Kansas. The painting is the result of a Benedictine College class project. A group of students in the School Community class had an assignment to bring to gether three "communities" together. They chose the Boy's and Girl's Club, Project Concern and the Alternative School. Working together, the project resulted in the mural facing the parking lot.

VFW 9/11 Rememberence

VFW Post announced a vigil to remember the victims of the September 11 attack. The vigil will be held on Saturday, September 11.

Our community will hold a candle light vigil to remember 9-11-01, its victims, survivors, and all other Americans, who lived their lives or have given their lives in the name of American freedom.


Leola Grantham Celebrates 90th Birthday

On Saturday, March 20th, Mrs. Grantham's family and friends gathered at the First Methodist Church to celebrate her 90th Birthday.Her children, grandchildren, great grand children all were able to gather for the celebration. Inspite of the snow a good number of her Atchison Friends were able to attend as well as family.
